POSITION TITLE: ROCK Program Counselor
LOCATION/DEPT: Norridge Citadel Corps
REPORTS TO: ROCK Program Administrator
FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt
STATUS TYPE: Flexible Part Time
OUTCOMES
Provide a safe environment for children while they are at the Corps participating in ROCK After School and Day Camp Programs.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Senior Counselors in picking up children from school (ASP only).Assist in setting up rooms for activities.Assist in preparation and serving of snacks.Assist participants with homework (ASP only).Play with the participants.Assist with cleanup of the facility.All other duties as assigned.Qualifications
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Current High School student or graduate.
Prior experience working with children necessary.
COMPETENCIES
Must be well organized.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do light to moderate physical work and must be able to lift or move at least 25lbs.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to interact with children in recreational activities.
The work environment for this position includes an office environment, including a gym, with a low to high noise level.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
