POSITION TITLE: Day Camp Unit Leader
LOCATION/DEPT: Norridge Corps
REPORTS TO: Youth Development Ministries Director
STATUS TYPE: Temporary Full-Time
Work under the direction of the Youth Development Ministries Director to ensure that the Day Camp is in keeping with the overall plans, goals and directions of the Corps.
Provide leadership for daily classes including preparation, teaching, and clean-up.Prepare lesson plans to be approved by the Youth Development Ministries Director.Obtain needed supplies within the Day Camp approved budget.Understand that the overall theme of the Day Camp will have a Christian emphasis.Read, sign and abide by the Safe From Harm Policy.Take part as a leader on field trips.Areas of responsibility can include:ArtBibleMusicRecreationOther duties as assigned.
Under general supervision of the Youth Development Ministries Director with minimal freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines. In the absence of the Director to be under the supervision of the Program Administrator.
This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside The Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as a representative of the Army and its mission.
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
Must have completed at least 1 year of college or have equivalent credentials.
Must be at least 18 years old.
At least one year of experience in day camping.
Must be well organized.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic art abilities
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.
This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
This individual will keep the Youth Development Ministries Director informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
This position is required to do light to moderate physical work and must be able to lift 25 pounds.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to interact with children in recreational activities.
The work environment for this position includes an office environment, including a gym, with a low to high noise level.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
